Matthew G. Moller, LMT, MB

Matthew is a professional Arizona and California state licensed and insured massage therapist with advanced training in clinical and restorative bodywork. He is a Master Bodyworker graduate of The Arizona School of Massage Therapy/Steiner Education Group (ASMT), a Restorative Massage Therapist, and an Instructor of Kata and Anatomy/Physiology with the Danzan Ryu Seifukujitsu Institute (DZRSI) of the American Judo & Jujitsu Federation (AJJF) and The Halau O Ho’Omana Dojo. He is also an ABMP Certified Massage Therapist with Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals and is certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED by the National Safety Council.

Matthew began his study of the healing arts in 1994 under the tutelage of Dai Shihan, Professor Robert Hudson, LAc., Judan, Danzan Ryu Jujitsu, with whom he continues to study today. He graduated from The Arizona School of Massage Therapy as the valedictorian of his Professional Program class of 2013 and has more than two decades of experience helping clients reduce and resolve pain while improving structure, function, and performance. His clients have included world‑class athletes, law enforcement officers, firefighters, paramedics, paraplegics, veterans, cancer survivors, students, family, and neighbors. Matthew is committed to improving his client's quality of life through professional massage and bodywork therapeutics, grounded in lifelong learning and the highest standards of professional conduct.

With specialized training, a key part of Matthew’s work is oncology‑informed massage for people living with or recovering from cancer. Sessions are modified for each person’s medical situation, with careful consideration for chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, ports and lines, bone metastases, lymphedema risk, and overall fatigue. He is proactive with each client’s medical team when appropriate, and he is careful not to exceed his scope of practice while providing comfort‑focused, supportive care.

At A.B.T. (Advanced Bodywork Therapeutics), every session begins with developing a personal relationship and a thorough structural, functional, and energetic assessment of the client’s condition. This first step provides a “road‑map” that guides treatment plans, recognizing that locations of pain and dysfunction are not always simple or obvious. Regular structural, SOAP/HOPRS, and chi assessments are carried out over time to document progress and refine the therapeutic approach as needed. Matthew works collaboratively with clients to understand their specific needs, goals, and concerns and encourages a professional dialogue with their medical providers to best coordinate care, while remaining firmly within massage therapy scope. Through his hands and his heart, he strives to deliver compassion, honesty, trust, and precise therapy, with client well‑being and privacy held as paramount.

Beyond caring for his massage and bodywork clients, Matt is the Sensei of Mu Kan Ken Dojo. He is recognized as a Shihan of Danzan Ryu Jujutsu, and a Godan (5th Degree Black Belt) senior instructor at Halau O Ho’Omana Dojo and The American Judo and Jujitsu Federation; where he currently serves as Chair of Fundraising Initiatives. For over three decades he has dedicated himself to learning and teaching the mindful self‑defense mastery of Japanese‑Hawaiian Danzan Ryu Jujutsu. His motto is: “Warrior, Healer, Scholar – Always the Student, Strive for Mastery.” He embraces the apparent paradox of warrior and healer, believing that one cannot exist without the other and that only through disciplined study can one progress toward self‑mastery. Having witnessed significant pain and suffering both close to home and in the wider world, Matthew chose restoration therapy as a career—using his hands to help, one person at a time—bringing together the paths of jujutsu and massage therapy.

Matthew Sensei looks forward to assisting you on your path toward wellness.
